Major Academic Events: Buolamwini attended the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a PhD candidate and researcher. She also has a bachelor's degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Main Contributions: Buolamwini noticed that facial recognition softwere had a harder time recognozing people of color. She helped reprogram the sofware to be more inclusive by adding more diversity in the training sets. She made a huge impact by making facial detection more inclusive so the field would be able to move away from racial and gender biases.
Awards: Some awards that Buolamwini has recived iclude the Rhodes Scholarship and the Fulbright Scholarship. She has also been added to many lists such as Tech Review 35 under 35 and Forbes Top 50 Women in Tech.
